[There goes the neighbourhood. --mdw]

DOOM v1.666 for Linux using X is available at:

	sunsite.unc.edu:/pub/Linux/Incoming/linxdoom.tgz

The .lsm is also there. Read it before downloading. Both of these
may be moved if the sysadmin discovers them. If you don't already
have the DOS v1.666 data file, it's at the same place but called
doom1wad.tgz.

If you have bought registered DOOM or have pre-ordered DOOM II, you
may use the data files from either on it. If you've pirated either
file, you suck demon phallus.

WARNING: If you don't know what DOOM is and are getting plenty of
things done at school or work, you do NOT want to download this
program.

[Please move DOOM-related discussions to alt.games.doom. Just because
a discussion involves software running under Linux does not mean that
it belongs in comp.os.linux.*. But have no fear: I will post updates
on the Linux DOOM port to c.o.l.announce. --mdw, another DOOM aficionado]

An updated version of Linux X DOOM is available at
sunsite.unc.edu:/pub/Linux/Incoming/linxdoom.tgz. It fixes the pixel
-doubling and -tripling problem. Also fixes the DOOMWADDIR variable.

Keywords: Linux DOOM, svgalib, X11, graphics, games

Linuxsdoom is DOOM under svgalib. It's full-screen, faster than
the X version, and supports mice. Otherwise the same. The version
is v1.8 as is the v1.8 linuxxdoom.tar.gz at the same spot. You
can get the v1.8 doom1.wad file from sgi.com:/pub/doom1v18.wad
right now, but old versions will prolly work if you skip the demo
when you start.

These work w/ doom.wad, doom1.wad, and doom2.wad. Note that
doom2.wad v1.666 had a data bug in it which causes it to crash on
level 2. Also note that doom.wad and doom2.wad are *illegal* to
distribute. Please don't.

Uploaded to sunsite.unc.edu:/pub/Linux/Incoming/linuxsdoom.tar.gz
and sunsite.unc.edu:/pub/Linux/Incoming/linuxxdoom.tar.gz

Enjoy. Keep in mind- no bug fixes or support. Sorry. This is
takeitorleaveitware.

linux?doom fix- sunsite.unc.edu:/pub/Linux/Incoming/sndserver.gz
is a new sndserver fixing a broken one that wouldn't properly
recognize doom2.wad.
