[This is the second posting about these utilities today. The tar files for
util-etc were corrupt and have been corrected in version 2.1. Please
_delete_ any copies of util-etc-2.0* that you may have. The files for
util-bin-2.0 and util-usrbin-2.0 were fine -- if you already downloaded
them, you do _not_ need to download them again.]

The following packages are available from:

ftp.cs.unc.edu:/pub/faith/linux/utils
sunsite.unc.edu:/pub/Linux/Incoming [to be moved]
tsx-11.mit.edu [in the near future]

The binaries have been compiled with gcc 2.4.5 and linked against the DLL
4.4.1 libraries. They install by untaring in /.

util-etc-2.1.src.tar.gz
util-etc-2.1.bin.tar.gz

This is a distribution of all those (Linux-specific) programs that
     "belong" in /etc:

agetty clock ctrlaltdel dmesg doshell fastboot fasthalt fdformat fdisk
frag fsck fsck.minix halt ipcrm ipcs kbdrate makehole mkfs mkswap
mount ramsize rdev reboot rootflags setfdprm setserial shutdown
simpleinit swapdev swapon sync syslogd update vidmode

Man pages are included for all of the programs.

This release is the logical successor of utile-1.5, and contains many
new versions. The following are the highlights:

Stephen Tweedie's latest mount, umount, swapon, and rdev.

David Engel's generic front-end for fsck and mkfs (fsutil), with
supporting changes to fsck.minix and mkfs.minix.

Theodore Ts'o's latest setserial and dmesg.

Krishna Balasubramanian's System V IPC support programs: ipcs and
     ipcrm (with new man pages).

Version 2.1 corrects an uploading error in version 2.0.

util-bin-2.0.src.tar.gz
util-bin-2.0.bin.tar.gz

This is a distribution of all those (Linux-specific) programs that
     "belong" in /bin:

domainname ed hostname kill ldd login more newgrp passwd setterm wall
     write

Man pages are included for all of the programs.

This release is the logical successor of utilb-1.3, and contains many
new versions. Of note: domainname, newgrp, and passwd are new.

util-usrbin-2.0.src.tar.gz
util-usrbin-2.0.bin.tar.gz

This is a distribution of all those (Linux-specific) programs that
     "belong" in /usr/bin:

banner cal chsh clear col colcrt colrm column hexdump last logger
look mesg od script strings ul uuencode uudecode whereis

Man pages are included for all of the programs.

This release is the logical successor of utila-1.5, and contains many
new versions. Of note: passwd was moved to util-bin
