I've got a small patch for fvwm 0.985 which adds arbitrary text to
the active window's title. That text can contain any of the format
specifiers accepted by strftime, as well as %%s, which substitutes the
windows normal title.

For example,  the line:

     TitleTime %a %d  [ %%s ]  %H:%M

in your .fvwmrc would cause the title of the window with focus to be
something like:

     Wed 17  [ MyWindow ]  12:34

The time will be updated whenever the window title is redisplayed, and
every minute.
