I am trying to run Informix 5.0 for SCO on Linux and am running into
problems. The administrative probgram doesn't seem to be able to
initialize shared memory. It says: tbinit: fatal error in shared memory
initialization.
I have installed the SCO version of libc_s, but am not sure what I have
to do to get Linux to use shared memory. I believe the kernel (1.2.13)
has support for this compiled in. Anyone know what's wrong?
Thanks,
Dan

The documentation that comes with iBCS should tell you how to go about
investigating the real cause of problems. For a problem with shared memory I
would guess at an old version of iBCS.

I try to install the ibcs module on my system (running 1.3.77) - the
module is built but when I do insmod iBCS it says : create_tables blah, blah
from 1.3.77 don't match 1.3.77. Shouldn't the 1.3.x kernels contain
support for iBCS?

No. iBCS is a loadable module developed independently of the kernel itself.
Releases of iBCS are guaranteed to work against the current stable kernel.
They are believed to work against some development kernels - likely the one
current at the time the iBCS release occurred. There is a good chance they
won't work against the latest development kernels. Right now I can't get a
vaguely recent development kernel to run stably on my 386-33 so the next
iBCS release is likely to be somewhat delayed :-(.
